Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Does debt review stop legal action from creditors?

Once you are formally under debt review and your application has been submitted, credit providers are generally restricted from taking further legal action, provided you keep to the process. This protection applies to formal debt review — not to informal debt mediation, which does not carry the same legal protection.

Will my credit record be affected?

Yes. Being under debt review is flagged on your credit record for the duration of the process. This is a normal part of formal debt review and is removed once you receive a clearance certificate or the process ends in another legally recognised way.

Can I get debt review removed once my income improves?

Not automatically. Removal from debt review follows specific legal routes and requires an assessment — an improved income alone does not guarantee removal. See our Debt Review Removal page for the detail.
